I’m pretty sure that H. Fisher in the front row of the 1947 bugle band photo is the Harry Fisher I knew later, in the l950’s at Jeppe High. Does anyone happen to know his whereabouts and how to get in touch with him?

That is Harry Fisher. A maestro with the bugle.

I remember Fisher very well indeed. He was in the same draft of boys with me in 1947 & I remember his face and curly auburn hair. I had the honour to be in “A Company” of Jeppe High School Cadets for my last two years and was selected as a member of the Guard of Honour in the War Memorial Services of 1950 and 1951. You should have heard Fisher playing “Last Post” & “Reveille” on his bugle from inside the Reference Library part of the War Memorial building – made your heart leap or brought a tear to your eye. He was one of about twelve boys who made it to Jeppe from St. George’s Homes in my year. I have never forgotten his bugle playing which was beyond expectations from a school boy and would equal many a mature professional. I do hope he had a good life and plenty of luck. Perhaps he can still play his bugle with the same sensitivity. I hope so. He will be about 80 years old now.
Sincerely
Alfred Pratt 1947/1951

You could enquire from St. George’s Homes if they have details of H.Fisher and his whereabouts. Good Luck.

I was a VSO (UK Volunteer) in 1966/7 at Beaton House. Trevor Dreyer was the housemaster. I was there with Tom Stephens. I ended up with malaria when I took some boys to the low velt.
I have a lot of photos of the time I was there. Please tell me where to send them.
